Top 5 players to watch at the World Cup

There are 2 days until the World Cup kicks off with Russia vs Saudi Arabia and many of the worlds footballing stars will descend upon Russia but one of the best parts of a World Cup is the surprise stars that set the tournament alight. So here are the top 5 players to watch in Russia:

He may not be a young up and coming player but Salah has a point to prove after getting injured in the UCL Final. He will want to take his beloved Egypt past the knock out stages and could see a potential rematch with Ramos. I think he has the skill to light up this tournament and is a strong golden boot contender.

Peru's all time top scorer is a surprise inclusion in the squad due to the fact he was meant to be serving a 14 month ban for taking cocaine. He is only allowed to play as the other Group C captains wrote to FIFA to ask him to play. Hopefully he can get back to his goalscoring form and help Peru be potential dark horses.

Spain have been known for their quality midfielders over the last decade and Asensio is no exception. In his first few seasons at Real Madrid he has shown his quality with great dribbling and some exceptional goals. Hoepfully Korea can replicate their 2002 World Cup performance in which they had a run to the semis which captured the imagination of supporters around the world.

Loftus-Cheek has been a star in the making for many years but did not properly get a good chance in the Premier League till this season. He has shown his creativity in midfield this season with his 3 assists and 2 goals from midfield for Palace as well as being a key part of the team with his great workrate. He has the opportunity to show his quality in Russia with England lacking a more attacking player in their midfield this year and should be given chances against Panama and Tunisia.
