From the Premier League to the US Open to the Aviva Premiership Rugby there was great action everywhere so after a fine weekend of sport we take a look back at some of the highlights and talking points from the weekend in pictures.

Gabriel Jesus scored twice in Man. City's rout of Liverpool on Saturday lunchtime and yet again proved he has the potential to be one of the worlds best players in the future.

The Kung Fu kick that divided the opinions of football fans this weekend on social media. I felt it was a red due to the dangerous action of a high foot but there was no malicious intent. Just wish there had been consistency shown by the referee in the Swansea Newcastle game when Matt Ritchie raised his foot dangerously but only warranted a yellow card. Mane could be greatly missed by Liverpool in their coming games.

The 77 day reign of Frank De Boer has ended at Selhurst park after losing the first 4 games of the season and scoring no goals. This will be a real blow to De Boer after being sacked from his previous job at Inter Milan after 85 days after losing 4 out of his opening 5 games in Serie A. Got to say that I feel it wasn't the smartest choice of manager by Palace considering this record at a club with the funds and quality of Inter Milan.

Rokoduguni was having a quiet game at the Rec on Saturday afternoon until the 76th minute with Bath 17-21 down to Saracens. He received the ball in the first receiver position from a scrum on the Saracens 10 metre line and stepped and dodged past 3 helpless Sarries defenders to score. He later confirmed the Bath win getting a Brace with an even later 70 metre intecept try.

It was an enthralling encounter at Sixways on sunday with the score locked at 10-10 at the 70 minute mark. However Wasps' class came through in the end with Willie Le Roux streaking away down the wing to score in the corner. Early in the game Marcus Watson scored a wonderful try on his first try for the Coventry based club. Wasps in the end ran out 24-10 winners against a plucky Warriors side after a late Josh Bassett try after a piece of magic from a certain Danny Cipriani.

Rafa Nadal secured his 16th,yes 16th! grand slam title after beating the big serving South African Kevin Anderson in the final at Flushing Meadows. Rafa has reassured all the doubters that he is still as good as ever only dropping three sets in the whole tournament. What a man!

After Wimbledon she was ranked 957th after going out in the first round but Sloane Stephens has shaken the world of tennis. Given a wildcard entry to the US Open she was expected to just make up the numbers and maybe give the US a bit of pride however ended up going the whole way and winning the title. She beat 5 seeded players on her way to the final and defeated American counterpart and 9th seed Venus Williams. Stephens will now rise all the way to world number 17 after her win.

England wrapped up the 3 test series against the West Indies with a 9 wicket victory. The stand out performer from Lords was England's star seam bowler Jimmy Anderson taking 7-42 which is a career best and put him back on top of the Test bowling rankings. What a Legend!

It is with great great sadness I confirm we will no longer be hearing two of the greatest sporting commentators of all time in my opinion. Henry Blofeld did his last stint in the TMS commentary box on Saturday when England secured their win over the Windies and did an emotional lap of honour around Lords to a standing ovation. John Motson also announced that he'd be retiring at the end of the season. I have nothing but love for these two icons of Sport commentating and are true inspirations.
